Come and celebrate Central Station’s 100th birthday
The landmark Central Station turns 100 on Friday 4 August. Join us on Saturday 5 August as we continue the celebration.
How much do you know about Central Station?
Did you know that the current station at Central is the third one built since the first rail journey in 1855? Find out more about the three stations at a special historic exhibition in the newly refurbished former booking office at Central Station on Saturday 5 August.
You can also join one of our guided tours to discover more about this Sydney landmark and its colourful history. Tours will depart from the concourse on the hour between 9.00am and 4.00pm. Please register at the John Whitton bust on the concourse beforehand as places are limited. Or pick up a brochure from the information desk for details of the “do it yourself” tour.

Want to find out more about the newest trains in our fleet?
After you’ve marvelled at the steam locomotives, visit platform one to see the Millennium train and then take a look at the new outer suburban Oscar train, which will be in service later this year. You can walk through both these trains to see the latest in our rail technology. To find out more about these trains and how they work, visit the stalls and talk to people from the companies that built them.

Are you in to restorations?
In 2003 RailCorp apprentices took possession of a 1926 CPH 18 rail motor, with the intention of restoring it to working condition. Thanks to the work of these electrical, mechanical and vehicle/body builder apprentices, the restoration is now complete and the train will be in on display on platform one.
