Engineering Scholarships
The aim of the Engineering Scholarship program is to accelerate the focus of undergraduates towards Engineering at RailCorp by offering three year Scholarship Programs.
RailCorp will be offering Scholarships to students in their second year of university studying an Engineering degree with an interest in pursuing a career in the following disciplines: Civil, Computer Systems/Science, Electrical, Environmental, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Signalling, Software, Surveying and Telecommunications.
Who we want
To apply for RailCorp's Engineering Scholarship Program, it is a requirement to satisfy the following criteria:
- Currently enrolled full-time in the second year of a degree, studying a relevant engineering discipline
- Currently have a credit average or higher which must be maintained for the duration of the Scholarship Program
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or permanent resident of Australia
- Be available to work full time during university holidays
RailCorp's Engineering Scholarships are available to students currently studying engineering degrees in the following disciplines:

What we offer
RailCorp sponsors your studies through reimbursement of your 2nd, 3rd and 4th year HECS directly to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) and offers you paid work experience throughout your time at university.
Any eligible compulsory employer superannuation contributions up to 9% will also be paid by RailCorp.

Frequently asked questions
1. Do I need to be an Australian resident when I apply?
Yes, to be eligible to work for RailCorp, all scholars must hold Australian or New Zealand Citizenship or Permanent Residency Status in Australia.
2. How long does the recruitment process take?
The recruitment process from application opening date to making offers is expected to take between 5-6 months with a tentative start date of November/December 2011.
3. What if I'm studying a double degree?
You are still eligible to apply providing one of the degrees you are studying is in a relevant engineering discipline.
Vacation employment is a required part of the scholarship program. Part time work during semester is optional and will be organised on a case by case basis.

5. What locations will I be working at?
As a scholar with RailCorp you would be required to rotate through various locations in the Sydney metropolitan area during your program to ensure you obtain experience in all aspects of your chosen discipline.
6. How do I find out if my application has been successful?
RailCorp receives many applications each day, and endeavours to assess and respond to every application as quickly as possible. All applicants will be advised about whether their application will progress once all applications have been assessed. This will be as soon as possible after the advertised closing date. We thank all applicants for their understanding.
The Scholarship recruitment program is particularly competitive; therefore we anticipate the process continuing for some months to allow careful consideration of all applicants. You will be contacted as soon as we have information about your application available.

7. If I was successful in gaining a Scholarship position with RailCorp, when would I start?
Scholarship programs are expected to start in November/December 2011.
