Telecommunications
RailCorp’s communications and control systems technicians utilise state-of-the-art technology to provide critical services to Rail Operations. They also maintain and repair radio, telecommunications and train control systems.
As a telecommunications apprentice, you’ll keep RailCorp Train Operations talking. You will learn to maintain, operate and repair communications and control systems as well as install, configure, operate, maintain, troubleshoot and repair telecommunications and train control services in support of Rail Operations.
At a qualified level you’ll use your extensive training, experience and analytical skills to plan, design, implement, manage and maintain quality control for complex telecommunications and train control systems.
Qualifications and licensing
- Certificate IV Telecommunications Engineering
- Austel Cabling Licence
Schedule of training
Three-year apprenticeship including on and off-the-job phases:
- Year 1 Three days per week at TAFE and two days on-the-job training
- Year 2 One day per week at TAFE and four days on the job training
- Year 3 On-the-job under the supervision of a tradesperson
