Environmental guidelines
Rail operations generate noise and vibration. People living and working near the rail corridor are sometimes adversely affected by rail noise and vibration. RailCorp currently undertakes a number of measures to reduce the impact of rail noise and vibration on the local community.
One of these measures has been the preparation of guidelines to assist councils, developers, architects, designers and related professions to address rail noise and vibration when planning and designing development near the rail corridor.
The guidelines were jointly issued by the State Rail Authority and Railway Infrastructure Corporation in November 2003 as interim advice, pending integration into RailCorp.
