Preparing for the Waratah train

RailCorp is carrying out a power supply upgrade across the CityRail network in readiness for the rollout of Sydney's new Waratah trains.

To accommodate the Waratah's new carriage design which relocates the guard carriage to the rear of train, platform upgrade works are scheduled alongside the new fleet's planned roll-out.

RailCorp also has a number of other infrastructure enabling works in progress, such as track and signalling works.

RailCorp completed the upgrade to its Petersham Training Facility on 30 April 2009, ready for the new crew training simulators currently being installed.

RailCorp is also putting in place plans for organisation-wide training to mobilise crew to support the smooth introduction of the new train, as well as related ICT support systems, recruitment and other programs.
