Access to RailCorp information
The Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act), which took effect on 1 July 2010, replaces the Freedom of Information Act 1989 and makes it easier than ever to access NSW Government information. RailCorp will only withhold information where there is an overriding public interest against disclosure - for example privacy or security considerations.
Mandatory release
Under section 6 of the GIPA Act, we are required to make publicly available certain information known as open access information, including:
- Disclosure log of access applications
- Documents tabled in Parliament
- Information not publicly available
- Information regarding RailCorp properties - under development
- List of major assets and acquisitions - under development
- Policy documents
- Agency Information Guide
- Register of contracts awarded
- RailCorp Code of Conduct
- CityRail Customer Charter
Proactive release
NSW Government agencies are encouraged to proactively release other information about their operations, as appropriate.
You'll also find a range of RailCorp information, including performance results and key reports, on our RailCorp, CityRail and CountryLink websites.
Accessing other information
If the information you're looking for isn't on one of our websites, you can request it informally by contacting our Right to Information Office, see details below.
When we're unable to release information informally, we may ask that you submit a formal access application.
