In 2005 the NSW railways celebrates its 150th anniversary. Since the first journey on 26 September 1855, our railway system has grown from a modest 22km line between Sydney and Parramatta to a complex, state-wide network covering 11,000km.
This year a large range of events have taken place throughout NSW to celebrate 150 years of rail, a milestone in our state's history.
A big thank you to the many individuals and organisations who planned and co-ordinated these events.
And another thank you also to the many people who joined in the celebrations.
